BEARCO TRAINING QUALIFICATIONS
Bayou Gunner and BEARCO Training have teamed up together to provide an easier path to obtaining your Concealed Carry Permit in Louisiana by witnessing your BEARCO TRAINING QUALIFICATIONS. Alongside BEARCO’s online CCHP course, we at Bayou Gunner have committed to witnessing those local course participants live-fire qualification.
What does this mean?
This means that if you take the BEARCO online training course, our instructor(s) at Bayou Gunner will schedule time to meet with you at a local shooting range and witness your live-fire qualification requirements for your Concealed Carry Permit.
How does it work?
When you complete the BEARCO online training, you will print out your certificate of completion. There are two places requiring signatures on your certificate. One is for the BEARCO online training, the other is for successfully completing the live-fire in-person qualification portion of the training. When you come in to perform your qualification, and you successfully pass your live-fire qualification shoot, a BayouGunner instructor will then sign off on your certificate. This will render your training complete and you can then (and only then) use the certificate to send in as proof of completing the Concealed Carry Handgun Permit Qualifications for the State of Louisiana.
How do I schedule my live-fire shoot?
Bayou Gunner holds all qualification shoot reservations at the Jefferson Indoor Range. Located at 6719 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA. You would call Jefferson Indoor Range and schedule a time to come in a meet with the instructor and perform your qualification.
What do I need to bring?
- Your certificate of completion of the BEARCO training course.
- Basic Hearing and Eye Protection. (Can be purchased at the range upon arrival).
- A Firearm with at least 50 rounds of ammunition. (Firearm rentals are available).
- A basic silhouette target will be provided by the range.
- Fingerprinting services are also available at an additional cost. (First Time CCHP only).
What will it cost?
The cost of the live-fire qualification shoot is $65 + tax. This covers your range fee with Jefferson Indoor, Qualification target and instructor fee. This is a separate fee from what you paid with BEARCO as our instructor(s) are not employed with BEARCO and function independently.
What else do I need to do?
Complete the Jefferson Indoor Waiver which can be found on their website at jeffersonindoor.com and clicking on the “Sign Our Waiver” link or by CLICKING HERE.
When you arrive at the range, you will inform them of why you are there and they will need your ID to check you in. If you have not completed the waiver, you will be required to do so upon arrival, however this will delay the time for you to complete your qualification.
What is the qualification I am required to perform?
The state mandated qualification is firing 12 rounds at 3 separate distances (5yds, 3.5yds and 2yds) for a total of 36 rounds. All rounds must impact the silhouette of the target to be counted as passing.
What happens if I don’t pass?
Failure to complete the qualification shoot will result in the student needing to requalify at another date at an additional cost. Hopefully following some practice. Please be aware, if you have never fired a gun before, you should practice prior to showing up for your qualification.
